Description

The large high country garden at Middle Rock features rhododendrons, roses, stone walls and a pond. On site there is a perennial nursery specialising in hardy alpine plants, many of which are old garden varieties. Dwarf bearded irises, gentians and Himalayan popppies grown from plants in the homestead garden are a feature of the nursery.

Middle Rock and Peak Hill Station host the High Country Tour, a day tour of the Lake Coleridge Basin. The tour begins with a morning visit to Middle Rock, lunch at Coleridge Village and an afternoon visit to remote Peak Hill Station at the head of the Coleridge Basin. Optional extras include a farm tour at Middle Rock and a dog trialling display at Peak Hill.

The High Country Tour: this begins one hour from Christchurch and
includes all meals. It is suitable for community groups, conference delegates and international visitors and has been consistently popular with tour groups for many years
