COURSE INFORMATION

  • Weeds and Control Methods
    Identifying weeds in the garden, lawn, the vege plot etc. To spray or not to spray?
  • Composting in the Garden
    Why not recycle from the kitchen and the garden? What can be used and what are the benefits.
  • Plant Classification
    Latin or Common? An insight into how plants are named and grouped.
  • Soils 2/ Botany
    A follow up from the Fundamentals Course. How do we look after/improve our soils. Plant Lifecycles.
  • Plant Propagation
    Seed sowing and Bulb Scaling. More demos of propagation techniques.
  • Practical
    Shrub & Tree Planting. Mulching and aftercare. Building a compost heap.

NB: Each evening session we will look at 2 weeds growing in our area, identify and discuss.


TUTOR DAVD MILNE
David is a qualified horticulturalist from Scotland where he worked for several private estates covering all aspects of design, planting and maintenance of soft and hard landscapes. He also worked for 7 years in the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh (RGB) where he began lecturing in horticulture. After working in the horticulture industry in Christchurch for a number of years he became a full time tutor with Agribusiness. David is currently Head Gardener at Golden Health Care Group.

Tutor
