Spring Day Tour to Darfield & Hororata

Taradale, The Gums, Terrace Station plus Buffet Lunch and Historical Talk by Louise Deans at Homebush
This tour offers a group-experience of the Hororata and Darfield areas. The tour includes meeting the families of three local properties, each showcasing their different lifestyles, homes and gardens. As well as a buffet lunch at Homebush (image left) and a talk on the history of the property.

In this semi-formal garden (image top left) larger trees and pittosporums form a sheltered background for natives, roses, rhododendrons and perennials. Winter roses and Spring bulbs are a feature as well as large lawns and manicured buxus and laurel hedging surrounding the garden. Morning tea served country style.
The Gums Helen & Graeme Loe
This charming country garden (image top right) consists of a mixture of mature shrubs, rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and hydrangeas, peonies. lavenders, trilliums, roses, wisteria, perennials and clematis varieties.
Terrace Station Kate & Richard Foster
Dating back to the 1850s this garden (image top middle) has strong formal design features from the Victorian era. Today, it has adapted to a relaxed informality that suits owners Richard & Kate. Notable features are the magnificent trees, vistas from one garden room to another and the effects of light and shade on the tree trunks. Bookings now open
